modernisation of the football stadium

The football stadium in Vršovice called ´V Ďolíčku´ is a legend in its right. As soon as the fan initiative was able to keep the club alive, the management started mapping out what the new and strict technical regulations would mean for the quality of the Premier League stadiums. The necessary changes needed massive funding. This need brought up an idea that the alteration of the stadium could be linked to new functions added to the stadium’s perimeter ring so that the yield from them could partly cover the extensive alteration. We had a chance to add to this thinking by a volumetric study. more

Due to the very tight space available for the football stadium, the greater part of added facilities had to be allocated to the two shorter sides (north and south). The additional functions were a hotel (north) and offices (south). The west central tribune provides complete facilities for football parties – visitors, players, management, and media. A compact closed block was established this way most profiled towards the west – i.e. to the Botič creek. The visitors were directed to the stadium from here. A steep elevation of tribunes was the prerequisite for establishing a dense and concentrated atmosphere of matches thanks to a close contact of visitors with the playfield.
